Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well. For today's blogpost, I decided I would do a life update! The year's newly begun, and this week has brought its own surprises and blessings. So here's a quick summary on what's new with me.

1. Out sick

I definitely wasn't planning on starting the new year off sick! I had a lot of plans and goals I was going to get right to accomplishing. Although it wasn't fun, it came as a timely reminder of things that I will carry with me starting this new year. First, a reminder to rest, and that time spent regrouping and healing is rarely a waste. And second, that although we may enjoy making our own plans that we should never cling to tightly to them, because God might have a different idea.

2. Back to school

I was so grateful for the long break from school over Christmas, but alas, all good things must come to an end. I'm back to class, and easing into the second semester of my freshman year, learning all about new theorems, the momentum equation, logical statements, and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. My education is back in full swing 😉

3. Wisdom from Proverbs

This month I'm following a Bible reading plan that takes me through the book of Proverbs, and although I haven't spent as much time getting in depth as I should, it's truly been a blessing to learn more about the importance of wisdom and sanctification in the pages of this book. If anyone is stuck or struggling to begin Bible reading this year, I would definitely recommend Proverbs as a good place to start!

4. Fresh reads

Being my bookworm-self, I was super happy to receive two new books for Christmas! The first, from my parents, was Stellarlune, book number nine of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger. It wasn't perfectly written, but it had some memorable moments (my fellow fans probably know some specific ones) and anyone who's ever waited for the next book in a series knows how fun it is to finally read it! The second book, from my grandparents, was Dearest Josephine by Caroline George, and even though I haven't even finished it yet, I'm already in love with the characters, the writing, and the story-telling style.

5. Hitting the slopes

Over Christmas break, something I spent quite a bit of time doing was skiing! I'm not the fastest or most aggressive skier ever, but recently I've found a new confidence in making my way down the mountain, and I love admiring the amazing scenery of the Northern Utah mountains more than ever. One of my favorite things about skiing is that I get to do it with my family and with my friends, and I loved spending time with people together on skis (or on snowboards for some).

Thank you so much for checking out my new post, and I hope you enjoyed getting caught up on what's new with my life. I'd love to hear from you in the comments! How has the first week of this new year been for you, friend?

Hey Kate thanks for the post. I really enjoyed reading it. Sorry you were sick, that's a really poor way to start the new year. My first week was pretty great, it had its ups and downs, but it was good. 😁
