I am a fifteen-year old writer and daughter of Christ who has always been enchanted by the beauty of storytelling and the importance of truth. Because of this, I have been more than excited to begin a blog for the very first time. I have no doubt that dipping my toe into the world of blogging will be a huge blessing as well as a learning experience.
As most bloggers do, I had to first put some time into brainstorming a theme for my little Wix site. I wanted more than anything to start a blog that wasn't simply adding more noise to the countless sites readily available all over the internet; I desired to create a quiet space where beauty and truth thrive, and fellow believers and story lovers alike could make themselves at home. But creating a blog that highlighted only the good parts of life wouldn't be an accurate representation of the wonderful, painful experience of serving a good God in a broken world.
This led me to consider the idea that in order to get to the heart of a rose, we must first acknowledge the thorns. And sometimes, while fighting through the painful mess in each of our hearts, we find beauty along the way.
This idea, I decided, would be the purpose of this blog. To acknowledge the thorns which pierced our Savior's brow - and the thorns intertwined through our own lives. But of course, we can't stop there, because God Himself never meant to leave us there. No, though thorns are a reality of life, they are not the essence of it.
And that, my dear friend, is why we must also look for the roses. Because even though this world is a harsh place, darkened by sin every day, The one true Light still shines through. In the heart of every changed person, in the voice of those lifting their praises, in the tiny blessings sprinkled throughout life you'll miss if you blink- and in the huge blessings akin to miracles- His goodness is there.
I invite you to join me on this journey - this quest to acknowledge the darkness of the world, but also to watch as the Light shines through ever more clearly. I'll be posting Christian living articles, fiction, opinion pieces, updates on my own life, and more. Thank you so much for checking out my blog. It would mean the world to me if you could subscribe! Otherwise, feel free to cuddle up with a blanket and a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
I'll see you again soon! Until then, remember; if you feel stuck in the thorns of life, don't forget to look for the roses.
I love this idea <3
